Teachers in Australia are campaigning for more funding for education. If nothing changes in Australia, public schools are facing yearly cuts of $670. A  review by David Gonski recommended a $5 billion a year injection into schools in Australia and described the present system as urgently in need of change. Although the review was published a year ago, no action has been taken by the federal or state governments to address the issue. The Australian Education Union is stepping up its 'I give a Gonski' campaign as polls show that over 80% of the public support the review's call for more money for education. There have been numerous strikes and protests over the last year in Australia about education funding - for example in Queensland, in Victoria and in New South Wales.
