Teachers in the tiny island state of Comoros, off the coast of South Africa have joined the growing list of teachers in the global south striking to try and secure unpaid salary Teachers in the Comoros Islands - one of the poorest countries in the world say that they have not been paid either November or December's salaries. The president of the mayor's association of Grande Comoros is calling on the government to pay them forthwith. Meanwhile students are demonstrating in support of the teachers. Many other state employees in the Comoros Islands have also not been paid. Over the past decade such struggles have been frequent in the Comoros as successive governments have failed to pay the teachers even the small salaries to which they are entitled.
