Yesterday's Demonstration Members of the Egyptian independent teachers' union joined a protest yesteray outside the headquarters of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF) The ETUF has 24 consituent unions - 22 of whose leaders are members of Mubarak's disgraced National Democratic Party. The ETUF had even planned to put off its own elections this year so that it could support the re-election of Mubarak. Protestors went to the ETUF headquarters and demanded its dissolution calling it a den of thieves and accusing leaders of profiting from privatisation. The president of the ETUF Hussein Megawar is currently having his finances investigated by the public prosecutor and protestors accused the leaders of profiteering from privatisation.
