Teachers have been out on strike and this week's action will be the fifth within a month. Meanwhile the country is running out of petrol as oil refinery workers strike, joined by lorry drivers, transport workers, local government workers and others. A general strike is planned for tomorrow. On Saturday there were demonstrations all over France with up to two and half million people on the streets. Opinion polls show that 70% of the public support the protests. Young people are angry about unemployment in particular and see the pension reforms as meaning that youth unemployment will rise even more.
