frenchblog.jpg  French Teachers on Strike earlier this Year French teachers are joining transport and postal workers and students in a week of strikes Teachers are striking over proposed 'reforms' which will see 13,500 job losses next year which will mean larger class sizes and an increased workload for teachers as well as other attacks on their working conditions. Schools all over the country are expected to close today as a result of the strike. All the sectors taking action this week are against the neo-liberal reforms of the Sarkozy government which will see the post office being opened up to private investment and transport workers' working conditions and pensions under attack. These measures are deeply unpopular with working people at a time when the economy is in recession and unemployment is rising.
