Teachers Demonstrating in Tegucigalpa Honduran teachers are engaged in a protracted fight against privatisation and repression Teachers have been protesting for weeks against the privatisation of education and the abolition of the Teachers' Statute which guarantees them hard-won rights. January 27th was the anniverary of the right wing coup which brought Lobo to power and teachers have been in the forefront of the campaign for the restoration of democracy (see previous posts) Teachers, community groups, students and others have been taking part in demonstrations and road blocks and some were attacked and arrested by the security forces - including four teachers. One teacher was injured.  More protests are planned for tomorrow.
