The long running dispute between teachers and the Jamaican government reached a crisis at the beginning of September The Jamaican Teachers Association (JTA) is threatening strike action and a delay in the start of the new term if the government does not pay salaries owed to them. The government is proposing not to pay the money owed until 2012. (See previous post)Teachers are very unhappy about this situation and the leaders of the JTA were due to meet the government last week.
