One of the Protestors wears the mask which has become a Symbol of the Occupy Protests Thousands of teachers marched in Lebanon on Wednesday, demanding that the government deliver a long-promised salary increase This is the latest in a series of actions by Lebanese teachers. Last month they struck for two days with the same demand: put to parliament the increase which has been promised and pay teachers properly. Other public sector employees are also affected and marched with the teachers. The government is pleading economic problems as a reason for not delivering on its promises, saying that if the pay scale is implemented it will 'inflict major losses on the pub lic and pricate sectors' according to remarks quoted in the Daily Star. However once again teachers are demanding that the rich should be taxed, particularly by imposing taxes on luxurious coastal properties, and that corruption should be ended.
