In this important video, Chicago teachers and activists share the lessons they have learned from their strike The film is of a forum called by the Chicago Teachers Solidarity campaign and discusses not only what has been learned from the strike but also the way to build on the lessons of the strike to mobilise people to campaign together for emancipated education and social justice. The speakers emphasise the necessity to work with and mobilise with the community in order to engage in this struggle and make it clear that the recent strike was only the beginning of what will be a long fight. They also explain how they had to build a new leadership in the Chicago Teachers Union around the struggle against school closures and privatisation and often against the existing bureaucracy in the union.
