The National Education Union – NUT Section will host a conference July 7, 2018 exploring the need for, and power of, global solidarity in education around the world, especially in the face of privatisation, oppressive regimes, and the Global Education Reform Movement (GERM).

The seminar will include workshops on various topics, and speakers from around the world will set the context for international solidarity from below, teacher to teacher and union to union, demanding full teacher, human and union rights, globally.

The event continues the work of Mary Compton, who sadly passed away in January 2018. Mary was passionate about international solidarity and the labour movement, and was widely known and respected for her activities in her union and internationally. This seminar both commemorates and builds upon Mary’s important legacy, which includes creation of this website.
