30 school children were arrested in schools in Hebron in the occupied West Bank according to reports

The children – aged between 7 and 15 – were arrested by the Israeli security forces in the city of Hebron, where illegal settlers frequently harass the local residents.  The children, who are accused of throwing stones, were arrested by police who came into their schools and took them away in a bus, according to several reports on the internet. Others were arrested in the street and dragged away by soldiers.

The mistreatment of children by Israeli security forces has been highlighted by Defence for Children International, who have documented many instances of children being arrested in the middle of the night, taken away from their parents and sometimes even tortured. In this case most of the children were released after four hours although there are worries that some are still being held.
