tamilblog.jpg A Young Protestor in Mumbai Amid the increasing violence in the north of Sri Lanka, Tamil teachers and students are  under attack. A young teacher - Ponnuthurai Prakalathan, 25 was sent to a detention camp in the South when he went to the police station asking for permission to return to his family. The Jaffna Human Rights Commission is attempting to have him released. Meanwhile students at Jaffna University are boycotting lectures over the abduction of one of their lecturers - Selvarajah Raveendran - whose brother is a Tamil politician - by people in the uniforms of the Sri Lankan police. Thousands of civilians are trapped in the conflict and there are reports that up to 100 Tamil women, children and civilians a day are being killed in the conflict by the Sri Lankan army in what Tamilnet.com describe as a genocidal war.
