egyptblog.jpg A Rally of Factory Workers in Egypt last Month  There are reports that teachers and education workers have been on strike in Egypt in the past weeks. There were large demonstrions in Cairo on March 30th outside the offices of the President Hosni Mubarek and calling for the dismissal of the Prime Minister. Some demonstrators called for a sit in until the situation - which concerns teachers' pay scales - is resolved. Some teachers only receive a quarter of a US dollar for a lesson. There were strikes and demonstrations in schools and educational institutions over many other parts of Egypt. The strikes by education workers are happening against a background of a wave of strikes in Egypt - from drivers to factory workers - as Egyptians feel the effects of the economic crisis.
